Come tutte le storie di Coetzee, la situazione è abbastanza claustrofobica. Il protagonista è un personaggio a dir poco allucinante, che non ha alcuna evoluzione nel corso del romanzo. L'inglese è splendido. Un po' deludente nel complesso.
