Beautifully written and plotted - this is easily one of the most compelling books I've read all year. Plus, this author really knows dogs. His canine characters are every bit as diverse, developed, and realistic as their human counterparts.
I don't see how people say this book is for dog lovers. They kill a dog on the 4th page. This book clearly isn't for me.
The prose in this book mesmerized me. I am usually not a huge fan of lengthy description but I found myself literally hanging on the words. Edgar is engaging and heartwarming and so very raw. Another reader's comment said they were disappointed with the ending and at first I was, but I really don't know any other way it could have ended. I fell madly in love with the Sawtelle dogs.
