Working è una raccolta di interviste orali a vari tipi di lavoratori americani degli anni '70, agli albori dell'era informatica.
Come dice l'autore, il libro non parla delle piramidi, ma delle moltitudini di signor nessuno che le hanno costruite.
Ordinarie storie di vite, speranze, rimpianti, sogni. Un'opera che aiuta molto a riflettere sul senso della propria esistenza e che ti fa sentire parte di quell'immensa comunità che è l'umanità intera.
Consigliato a chi pensa che si possa imparare di più sulla filosofia della vita da un idraulico o un muratore che da Kant o Schopenhauer.
Oltre a questo, un meraviglioso scorcio sulla cultura americana.

Cinico, ma maledettamente realista. I meccanismi perversi dei rapporti intra e extra familiari sono descritti divinamente, tanto che a tratti pare di aver a che fare con la propria coscienza, pronta a sbatterti in faccia le subdole piccolezze quotidiane.

Un libro assolutamente da non leggere in fase pre-matrimoniale, se non si vuol mandare tutto a monte.

I pro: ottimi disegni, storia allucinata e psichedelica che se letta nel momento giusto (di notte) è di grande effetto. In più un bellissimo odore di stampa.

Un romanzo a fumetti difficile da giudicare.
I pro: ottimi disegni, storia allucinata e psichedelica che se letta nel momento giusto (di notte) è di grande effetto. In più un bellissimo odore di stampa.
I contro: personaggi fisionomicamente simili, facile confondersi. Molti flashback e salti, spesso si perde il filo. Linguaggio e riferimenti un po' troppo adolescenziali (forse il target del libro?).
Gli avrei dato 2,5 stelline se fosse stato possibile.

Il libro geek per eccellenza, ma anche un sorprendente e intimo libro sull'amicizia tra colleghi.
Letto a più di 10 anni di distanza assume un retrogusto un po' amarcord per chi ha vissuto quel periodo e quelle esperienze da tech.

A bit outdated (it's funny to read about oscilloscopes for sound recognition) but well written and absorbing.
It's a good book for non-native English speakers as well, thanks to its not excessively complex vocabulary.
