Surely interesting, it is a divulgation/popularisation book that deals with the very basics of several disciplines, seen mainly through the history of the scientists and their society.
You can discover many interesting things reading the book, but the scientific content is almost on a second level, while in full focus are the personalities, the events, the coincidences, the struggles.
So, in a way, it doesn't outline a "history of nearly everything", but mentions "many things" through a compendium history of "many of the people that studied something".
Slightly disappointing, in this way.
Also, the author adversity for exponential notation is unmotivated and, contrary to what he wants, makes the book (the first part anyway) more difficult to read.
