After twenty years living in the UK, Mr. Bryson and his family decide to return to the US. Here Bryson starts writing a series of funny anecdotes about life in America. The book is hilarious, Bryson has a way of making fun at himself and of the things around us.

Anyone reading the book will find himself (1) laughing hysterically or (2) feeling touched not just by Bryson's observation of life in the USA and Britain but also human nature in general. I recommend this book highly. It's a good read.
...ContinuaBill Bryson is one of my favorite English writers (the other is David Crystal). He always makes me laugh when I read his book. His writing is easy to read, funny and idiomatic. He shares his small but interesting daily experience in America in this book.
...ContinuaThis book collects some of the column essays which Bryson wrote for an English newspaper in the late 90s. It is a combination of typical Bryson humour(cynisim) and acute observations, together with some statistical findings and astounding facts, provides a funny/ sad/ silly picture of modern America. To me, the irony is that the phenomenons mentioned in the book 10 years ago, are still happening and it's not just in America, but around the world.
