Frankly, I don't care a button for Lawrence himself: far too egomaniac and self-centred, striving too hard to play THE HERO... (and don't scowl if you have only seen the movie, read the book first, then sue me!).
But.
But his tale of Arab tribes, endless desert, guerilla fighting, daring raids against the railroad, blood, underhanded politics, banners flowing in the wind, blood, merciless sun and conflicting ambitions is compelling. Don't take at face value every word our T.E. writes, but enjoy the epic adventure, the gorgeous settings and the battles. (Doesn't hurt to listen Jarre's soundtrack while you read...)
