I have never loved Graham Greene... until I read this. Funny, poignant, and heartbreaking, it stirs all the emotions and brain cells. Nasty characters who are lovable, the book is filled with hopeless situations with an odd silver lining of faith that gives meaning to the dark cloud. Set in a frustrating third world country that represents the real nature of existence, it has one so amused that one cries and so sad that one laughs.
