Helen Fielding's devastatingly self-aware, laugh-out-loud account of a year in the life of a thirty-something Singleton launched a genre and transcended the pages of fiction to become a cultural icon.

Very nice.

Nothing complicated or pretentious, and just for this reason I really loved reading it. Bridget's thoughts are hilarious and so, so realistic. Sometimes you say "Oh, God, she's so hopeless" and then you realize you have already done/thought something similar in your life and feel a bit stupid and laugh at her and at yourself.

Deserved-but-not-really-so happy ending with very fine-specimen-of-manliness Mark Darcy.
